Our History
Arpentages Schultz Barrette Surveying's roots are connected to the longstanding land surveying work of W. E. Ridout, whose family history in the profession dates back to his great-great-grandfather, Thomas Ridout, in the early 1800s. Over the decades, the company has evolved through several transitions while continuing to play an important role in shaping the easternmost communities of Ontario. David Schultz, a respected former principal of the firm, purchased the company from Gouch & Ridout in 1965. In 1998, André Barrette, who later continued that legacy as principal, acquired the practice from David Schultz and renamed it Arpentages Schultz Barrette Surveying, retaining the Schultz name in recognition of David Schultz's strong reputation and longstanding connection to the community.
Today, under its current ownership, Arpentages Schultz Barrette Surveying continues to build on this strong foundation of technical excellence, local knowledge, and professional integrity. The firm remains committed to upholding the accuracy, care, and high standards established by its former owners, while continuing to modernize its services through advanced technology and responsive client service. This balance of tradition and innovation allows the company to honour its legacy while meeting the evolving needs of homeowners, developers, municipalities, legal professionals, and construction partners across Eastern Ontario.
